Placemaking

The Brief

Backed with 16 years of experience with their sister site The Fair, We Are Placemaking are experts in bringing spaces to life. However, their original site was not achieving a significant SEO footprint and they were struggling to secure a brand position in Google UK

As ‘Placemaking’ from a commercial perspective is still a relatively new concept, it was crucial that they captured search traffic at this early stage in order to position themselves at the forefront of this growing industry.

Digital Cake were tasked with improving and refining the relevancy of their site towards Google and switching towards authority objectives.

  1. Resolve the technical issues on the site.
  2. Establish trophy keywords and create a SEO strategy which would focus on the relevance and authority of trh website.
  3. Optimise content to reflect those targets.

The Plan of Action

One of the biggest red flags that we noted on the initial site was the pagespeed, which was slow to load and would require some recoding work in order to improve the delivery of the page information.

Our next task was to improve the relevancy of the site by including more keyword targeted headings into the website copy. We initially carried our relevancy-keyword research to determine what the most successful keyword would be. Once we knew this information we were able to optimise the homepage and de-optimise the landing page confliction with the about me page.

We also installed the correct tracking equipment on the site, including the correct Google analytics tag, so we were able to accurately track our progress.

The Results

Since working with Digital Cake, Placemaking now successful rank for relevant placemaking terms which directs traffic to their homepage as opposed to their about us page, which serves a much better UX for searchers.

Improved rankings include:
